Ball valve for petroleum products
The ball valve is used as a shut-off device on pipelines.
These pipelines transport:
- commercial oil with a temperature from minus 25° С to plus 80 °С (N). A short-term increase in the temperature of the working fluid up to plus 100 °С is allowed;
- ongoing fluids during offshore development of oil fields with temperatures up to plus 80° С (at the request of the customer up to 190 °С) (МN). These include: ballast oily seawater, seawater, oily water, refrigerant, etc)
liquid and gaseous aggressive and non-aggressive fluids, including those with an increased content of hydrogen sulfide at temperatures up to plus 80 °C. - It is possible to manufacture valves for operation on pipelines with a working environment temperature of up to 250 °C.
Description
- Ball valve for petroleum products – it is possible to produce bodies both in an all-welded version and with a split body structure. The all-welded body design minimizes the risk of fluid leakage. The split design increases the maintainability of the valve. It also allows to use it on aggressive working environments, providing the ability to replace the sealing elements.
- The full bore of the ball valves provides the ability to pass cleaning and diagnostic devices through it.
- The ball valve plug is fixed in the supports, which reduces the torque. In this way it facilitates valve control and increases the wear resistance of the valve seat sealing rings.
- The split spindle gland unit, primarily, allows the safe replacement of the soft spindle seal on the existing pipeline (plug position – closed).
The valves design provides for a pressure relief system from the internal cavity. Generally, it excludes the possibility of jamming of the shutter and destruction of the product under the influence of excessive pressure in the event of possible heating of the fluid inside the valve.
Technical specifications
TIGHTNESS | The valve tightness class is “A” according to GOST9544-93. The spring-loaded, double-sealed packing seats (primary metal-to-metal, secondary metal-elastomer) are in constant contact with the valve body. The shutter is protected from adhesion of the working fluid. It has stable class “A” tightness indicators both at the inlet and outlet of the valve (two-way type of action of the seats). Loose (non-rigid) seating of the secondary soft seal significantly reduces the loads faced by the polymer sealing ring during valve operation. The dimensions of the polyurethane ring and the groove for it are made in such a way that when the seat is pressed against the plug, the ring is pressed into the groove without protruding beyond the seat. In addition, this contributes to the greater safety of the rings and the preservation of the seal tightness of the shutter when the flow of the fluid with the presence of mechanical impurities is shutdown. |
CLIMATIC VERSION ACCORDING TO GOST 15150-69 | – «У» (ambient temperature – from minus 45 to plus 40°C); – «ХЛ» (ambient temperature – from minus 60 to plus 40°C); – «В5» (ambient temperature – from minus 40 to plus 45°C). |
CONNECTION TO THE PIPELINE | Any direction of the working fluid. Installation position of valves on the pipeline is any, recommended position – drive up. Connection to the pipeline is flanged or welded. At the request of the customer, flanged versions of valves can be supplied with complementary parts (flanges, gaskets, fasteners). When connecting for welding, beveling is performed under the customer’s pipe. |
INSTALLATION TYPE | Ball valves for petroleum products are produced in above-ground and underground versions. |
The valves are controlled using a manual drive, electric drive or pneumatic drive. At the request of the customer, it is possible to complete the valves with drives of any national and foreign manufacturers.

Materials of main parts
Depending on the characteristics of the transported fluid, as well as at the request of the customer, ball valves are made from titanium, as well as from corrosion-resistant steels (08Х18Н10Т or 10Х17Н13М3Т).
